When Life Gives You Lemons

When life gives you lemons, remember: They are not a product of natural evolution. They were created by humans by cross-breading bitter oranges and citrons, followed by selective breeding to get rid of the bitterness, which still dominated their taste.

It was not life that gave us lemons, but we who gave lemons life. We brought them into existence solely for our enjoyment and should their taste ever ceases to please us, it is well within our power to make them exist no more once again.

We are their creators, their potential destroyers. We exist beyond their horizon. We thus satisfy the scientific definition of being the gods of lemonkind. There are no other gods above or beside us. Up here, there is only us.

Maybe Nietzsche-maxed a bit too much with that one… Mostly just went with the flow.

Also yes, I do realize that cross-pollination between bitter oranges and citrons does also occur in nature, wild lemons do exist, they are not purely artificial. But stating this more correctly would disturb the flow.
